Senior Living Community Safety Update
Edgewood Summit has had two Employees test positive this morning in the Ridgemont, our assisted living wing. As a result, testing is underway for all Residents in the Ridgemont and all Employees which are applicable. Both Employees are self-isolating at home and will not be able to return to work until appropriate. Out of an abundance of caution, the Ridgemont wing will be isolating itself from the remainder of the Community so meals will be delivered to all Resident’s apartments and group activities are suspended. We anticipate having all test results back by early next week. Next steps will be influenced by those results and any subsequent positive cases. We encourage all who are fully COVID vaccinated to get a Booster shot when available to do so. For those Employees who are not yet fully vaccinated, the deadline to get those vaccinations is December 15, 2021.
Edgewood Summit’s COVID Vaccination policy for Employees requires all Employees to be vaccinated no later than December 15, 2021. The Board of Directors of Edgewood Summit adopted the policy to further reinforce our focus on the safety and health of our Residents and Employees. The environment of our Community can be made safer and minimize transmission of the COVID disease with higher vaccination rates as this virus severely threatens those with underlying health conditions and those with advanced age. Current vaccination rates are approximately 91.0 percent for Employees while the Resident vaccination rate remains at 100 percent as well as 100 percent for Booster shots. Employees being vaccinated for COVID receive additional paid time off benefits with each of the doses and also for any adverse side effects experienced. Requests for medical and religious accommodations are included within the policy.
RX by Tel continues as the pharmacy partner for Edgewood Summit although COVID vaccinations may be obtained from any local pharmacy or the Kanawha Charleston Health Department at no fee. Booster vaccination continues to be encouraged as well with vaccine availability from Pfizer, Moderna or J&J. Onsite COVID vaccination clinics have been held each month at Edgewood Summit.
