COVID19 Update March 1, 2021

Once again, Edgewood Summit has had no positive COVID cases this weekAnd it gets even better – Edgewood Summit has now seen no positive COVID cases in over 30 days.  Employees continue to be tested twice per week as mandated by Governor Jim Justice.

The COVID Vaccination at Edgewood Summit is now being made available with the help of a local pharmacy partnership with RX by Tel.  As a result of this partnership, Edgewood Summit will see approximately 20 more people get vaccinated next week by RX by Tel.  Residents, Employees, Caregivers and Auxiliary Staff may request vaccination and get on a priority list.  The Moderna vaccine can be made available when we have amassed 10 or more people in increments of 10 persons at a time.  Each vial contains 10 doses and to ensure no dose is wasted, an appointment will be scheduled once a group of at least 10 are requested.  Please contact the Receptionist to request a COVID vaccine and be prepared to provide some needed information to get on the priority list.  The WV system for the general public continues to be available at 1-833-734-0965 or www.vaccinate.wv.gov.

Edgewood Summit requirements remain in place for COVID precautions.  We are encouraged with the continued downward trend in the infection rate and the lower number of new positive cases.  However, it is important to remember that the vaccine does not provide complete immunity and each vaccinated person can still remain a carrier and could potentially infect others.  Therefore, caution and patience are still needed.  Please continue to:

  • Properly wear a snug fitted Mask in the public areas within the building
  • Socially distance from others at a minimum of 6 feet
  • Hand wash frequently and use proper cough etiquette

Other information:

  • Direct care, end of life, emotional/compassionate/essential support visits to Residents are permitted and those considered are being more broadly defined in an effort to encourage more visitation.  Those who are fully vaccinated with both doses of vaccine with the last dose at least 14 days past need only to show proof of vaccination.  Otherwise, a COVID negative PCR test within the past 5 days is necessary prior to the visit or a rapid test can be performed by the Nursing Staff onsite with advance notice.  Contact the Nursing office to arrange the rapid COVID test at 304-346-2355 or 304-347-1954.
