Our community is disheartened to share that we recently identified four new positive cases of COVID-19 among Residents in skilled nursing. This follows comprehensive testing of Residents and Staff at the Hodges Center on Monday, October 19. All Team Members tested negative.
The newly impacted Residents are experiencing no signs or symptoms of the virus at this time. All are recovering safely in isolation in their private rooms with negative air flow and separate HVAC systems in place. We are working closely with the local health department on contact tracing.
Altogether, there are six skilled nursing Residents and five memory support Residents currently impacted by the virus. All continue to recover in isolation with mild or no symptoms. Unfortunately, two beloved Residents previously passed away after testing positive. We extend our condolences to their friends, families and loved ones during this period of grief.
Among Staff, only two Team Members are currently diagnosed as having COVID-19. Both Employees are doing well and continue to isolate in their respective homes.
Frequent testing remains a priority as we strive to promptly identify all active COVID-19 cases to limit exposure within our community. We conducted a second round of testing on Thursday, October 22, and are awaiting results, which will be shared in upcoming updates.
In encouraging news, the federal and state governments recently requested information regarding the quantity of COVID-19 vaccines our community will need once it becomes available. With long-term care Residents and Employees in high-priority for access to vaccinations, we’ll be among the first groups to receive it.
While the pandemic presents many challenges, we have been inspired by the unwavering dedication and commitment of our Team Members to keep everyone healthy and safe.
