COVID-19 Update | February 19, 2021

COVID Update

Once again, Edgewood Summit has had no positive COVID cases this weekEmployees continue to be tested twice per week.

The COVID Vaccination at Edgewood Summit is now being made available with the help of a local pharmacy partnership.  Residents, Employees, Caregivers and Auxiliary Staff may request vaccination and get on a priority list.  The Moderna vaccine can be made available when we have amassed 10 or more people in increments of 10 persons at a time.  Each vial contains 10 doses and to ensure no dose is wasted, an appointment will be scheduled once a group of at least 10 are requested.  Please contact the Receptionist to request a COVID vaccine and be prepared to provide some needed information to get on the priority list.  The WV system is also available at 1-833-734-0965 or www.vaccinate.wv.gov.

Edgewood Summit requirements remain in place for COVID precautions.  We are encouraged with the downward trend in the infection rate and the lower number of new positive cases.  We are advised to remain vigilant as new variant strains of the virus are progressing.   It is important to remember that the vaccine does not provide complete immunity and each vaccinated person can still remain a carrier and could potentially infect others.  Therefore, caution and patience are the key.  Please continue to:

  • Properly wear a snug fitted Mask in the public areas within the building
  • Socially distance from others at a minimum of 6 feet
  • Hand wash frequently

Other things to remember:

  • Direct care, end of life, emotional/compassionate support visits to Residents are permitted.  A COVID negative test within the past 5 days is necessary prior to the visit unless the person visiting has received both doses of vaccine and is 14 days past the last dose. Please show your proof of both vaccinations upon entry screening.
  • Small group Dining, weekly Housekeeping and Activities have resumed.
  • Non-Resident Guests are not permitted in the Dining Room or group Activities.
  • Essential non-medical Transportation has resumed.
  • All entry screening is through the main lobbies/reception areas. Do not enter without being screened.

More updates will be provided as additional information becomes known.  Thank you for your continued support.  Let us all continue to do all that we can for the health of our Community.
